

Vernon Edward Morgan, 81, passed away unexpectedly September 22, 2011. He was born February 14, 1930, in Maud, Oklahoma to L.A. and Bertha Morgan. A graduate of Lampasas High School in 1947, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and subsequently earned a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas in 1958, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1972. He was employed by DuPont and W.R. Grace Companies before joining Texas Instruments in 1965. After retiring from TI in 1991, he was a Chemical Engineering Consultant and founded Chemical Abatement Technology Inc. in 1996, where he manufactured chemical abatement equipment. Vernon was known for his love of family, his generosity and innovative spirit, and a sense of humor that endeared him to those he touched. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Ruth P. Morgan; a son Glenn Edward Morgan and wife Margaret Morgan; two grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Morgan and John Zachary Morgan; a great granddaughter Gwenneth Morgan; and a sister, Frances Emmite. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother LaRay Morgan. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial may be made to the Vernon E. and Ruth P.
