Veta Fuller Boswell

Veta Fuller Boswell passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023, at the age of 93. Her 3 daughters spent 4 days with her while in hospice care following a short illness. The world won’t be the same without the love and kindness she spread to all she knew, and even those she didn’t. Veta selflessly gave to others until the end of her earthly life. She was a thoughtful and generous role model and mentor to children, youth and adults of all ages. Through her volunteer and service leadership with her church and across the city of Dallas, Veta spread light, joy and hope.

Veta was born in Euless, TX, in 1929. The small rural community gave her a strong foundation of faith, hard work and respect for all. Surrounded by the support of loving parents, a doting brother, grandparents, 30 aunts and uncles and dozens of cousins, Veta thrived through the hardships of the Great Depression and WWII.

After graduating from The University of Texas with a home economics degree, Veta became a dietician at Parkland Hospital. There she met her husband of 53 years, Dr. George Marion Boswell, Jr. They had 3 daughters and raised them surrounded with love, faith, travel, the arts and endless fun! Veta enjoyed planning and implementing events, receptions, programs, fundraisers and parties throughout her entire life. Whether it was a Greenhill School carnival, a backyard birthday party, a barn shindig, cook-out at the ranch, tea for young girls from the Wesley-Rankin Community Center, a reception for 400 from the North Texas Conference of the UMC or a 4-course candlelight dinner in her home, Veta’s exceptional and warm hospitality made everyone who attended feel special and loved.

Veta is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George M. Boswell, Jr. of Dallas, parents, Jessie and Warren Fuller of Euless, brother Troy Fuller of Euless, and son-in-law Bob Koudelka of Dallas. She is survived by her daughter Brianna Brown and husband Randy of Dallas, daughter Kama Koudelka of Dallas, daughter Maia Boswell-Penc of Albany, NY, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

We want to thank the CC Young residents and staff who deeply cared for and supported Veta over the past 11 years. CC Young was her 2nd family and we are grateful for the love they shared.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Veta will be held at First United Methodist Church of Dallas on Saturday, February 18, at 3:00 pm.
