

Virgil St.Clair passed away the evening of November 13 at home surrounded by his wife of 61 years, his 3 children, grandson and sons-in-law. A proud native Texan, Virgil was born July 25, 1930 on a ranch in the Panhandle of Texas. The family moved to their ancestral homestead farm near Commerce, Texas when he was 6 where he attended school and helped his parents and brother farm the land.
He attended Texas Tech University, the first in his family to earn a college degree. As a professional geologist, he traveled the world gathering stories of his adventures that he loved to tell family and friends. When home, Virgil was an active member of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, loved to read, visit with family and friends, add to his rock and mineral collection and keep up with college and professional sports.
After retiring from the A.G. Hill Company, Virgil was active serving on the Senior Affairs Commission for the City of Dallas, the AARP, teaching adult Sunday school, serving as a Disciple Bible Study teacher and traveling with his wife Mary.
The family invites all who wish to celebrate Virgil's life to a Memorial Service at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will take place at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Burns Cemetery in Trenton, Texas on Monday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Richard Dunagin, Officiant. Memorials can be sent in his memory to Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, 9015 Plano Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
