William Anton Auberty (Will), was born on November 26, 1994, and flew from this earth Saturday, August 6th. Will was born in Dallas and attended the Episcopal School of Dallas where he graduated in May 2013. He also attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts in his junior year, where he was in the classical piano Department. Upon graduation from ESD, Will matriculated at SMU, where he was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Having returned in May from a semester abroad in Paris, Will had just completed summer classes and was looking forward to his senior year at SMU.
Will was a seventh generation Texan and very proud of his long, colorful heritage. His love of the Lone Star State was fueled by summers spent at his ranch - The Lazy F - where he and his brother Alec and friends spent time riding horses, swimming in the lake and generally running free. Will was also a French citizen and very proud to be his father's son. He always had a great affinity for France, especially Paris, where he visited many times throughout his life.
His beloved Paris was "always a good idea," but he had traveled far and wide - to Laos to work at an elephant refuge; sailing in the South Pacific and down the Nile; across the Atlantic on the QE2; across Europe by train; and most recently on a sailboat around the coast of Turkey and Greece. While attending the American University of Paris this past semester, he was among a handful of international students to visit Russia, which gave him great insight into the world and fueled his political discussions around the table.
One place stood out for Will and that is our many years spent on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. Along with a tight knit group of friends, it became an annual spring break tradition. There, he and his brother and friends, grew up swimming in the turquoise waters, fishing and dancing in the moonlight.
Will was funny, insightful and a born entertainer. He could bust a dance move that would put everyone in stitches. Well versed in current events, history and literature, he could quote Shakespeare and Dawes, Modern Family and T.S. Elliott.
Above all, Will had music in his soul. He began piano at the age of 5 and studied though high school, playing classical, jazz, and anything by ear. Many hours a day were spent playing his guitar and he loved jamming with his brother and other musicians. The sound of his glorious music will forever resonate in the hearts of all who loved him.
Our Sweet William leaves us with a hole in our lives that can never be filled. He will forever be missed by his surviving family, his father Frederic, his mother Melissa and his beloved brother Alec. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Billie Farrar and Antonia Lee, his grandfather Michel Auberty; his Uncles Jim and Scott Farrar, his Aunt Valerie Auberty, and his many extended family members in Texas, France and Turkey, and an endless array of good friends.
Funeral service will be held at St. Michael & All Angels Church on Wednesday, August 10, at 2pm.
