William (Bill) Milhem Joseph passed away on September 8, 2013. Bill was born on May 1, 1957 in Dallas, Texas. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School, graduated from Jesuit High School and attended Loyola University on a music scholarship. Bill was blessed to have married his best friend, the love of his life, Sylvia Orozco-Joseph on August 16, 1986. They recently celebrated their 27th anniversary. Bill was well-known for his humility and giving spirit.
Bill was popular for his dedicated customer service in the dry cleaning industry, starting at the family’s business, Red’s Cleaners, and most recently Sunshine Laundry and Dry Cleaning. To him, his customers were family. Bill did not know any stranger.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and William Joseph. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Orozco-Joseph; his sister Margaret Alfaro and husband Ismael; sister Sylvia Davis and husband Steve; sister Anne Lindberg and husband Alex; sister Mary Rayfield and husband Craig; father-in-law, Alberto P. Orozco; brother-in-law Mark Orozco and partner Lars D. Staberg; sister-in-law Judge Diana Orozco-Garrett and husband Bill.
Bill is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Uncle Bill was an amazing servant leader who leaves a legacy of caring and giving to so many. He was an incredibly kind uncle, role model and teacher with a strong work ethic. He taught us to strive to give our best, living the values of sound ethics and morals. With his love of music, he encouraged his nieces and nephews to pursue their talents. We especially remember his stories of the ‘Boo Family’ and all of their adventures. ‘Punky Bill’ was always a good sport when we surprised him by cracking confetti-filled cascarones on his head at Easter time. We will always remember him with love in our hearts.
His greatest passion was working with the youth at St. Edward Catholic Church. For over 25 years, Bill spiritually guided and mentored hundreds of teenagers. As Bishop Charles Grahmann recently wrote, “Bill did monumental work for the young people at St. Edward’s”. He will remain in the hearts of many current and past youth group members for the years to come. Bill was truly an instrument of God’s peace.
Recitation of the Rosary will be on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 4001 Elm Street, Dallas, Texas. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery at a later date.
