He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr and Mrs W.A. (Bill and Zell) Hollweg of Dallas. W.B. or Dub to his family, Bill to his later friends, is survived by his sister Elizabeth Rivera and his brother Lewis Hollweg, both of Dallas, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In his early life, W.B. was a tall, lanky, fun loving, frequently laughing brother who loved playing sports, especially basketball.
Easy going and always friendly with a smile on his face, he rarely met a stranger.
After graduating from Thomas Jefferson HS in 1961, he went on to Tyler Jr College and later to University of North Texas.
Early in his 20’s he was stricken with a sudden mental illness, likely the result of contracting encephalitis as an infant.
With treatment and support from his family, he made a life for himself in Dallas and Little Rock, AR. After the death of his parents, he moved into a Dallas retirement home where he made many friends, greeting everyone with a booming ‘hello’ and always introducing his family members to everyone he knew.
W.B’s astounding memory for names, dates, and facts from the past was remarkable, prompting family members to often ask him for family historical information.
Even in his most difficult times, when asked how he felt, he would answer ‘fine’ or most times, ‘I’m ok’.
He rarely complained and was always ready to go out for a steak, beer, and toward the end of his life,
milkshakes.
He is now at peace.
