Winifred "Winnie" B. Klein

Winnie was born in Queens, New York on October 17, 1935, to Francis Xavier Klein and Helen Klein (née McAsey). She with her parents and siblings moved to Indian Rocks Beach, Florida in the early 1940s where she attended and graduated from Largo High School. She went on to attend St. Petersburg College and then went on to a career as a federal employee.

Winnie served the country as a contracting specialist for the Navy, the Air Force, and NASA. For 40 years, during the Cold War and the space race, she helped the country obtain critical parts and supplies for the many programs including the Apollo rockets and the Space Shuttle. Winnie was also actively involved in the Catholic Church throughout her life. Since 1968, she attended St. Mary’s in Rockledge, Florida and attended mass daily since her retirement. In addition, she volunteered at Rockledge Regional Medical Center for many years during her retirement.

Winnie is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Helen Klein; her brother, Donald Klein; her sister-in-law, Louise Klein; as well as her grandparents, and many cousins, uncles, and aunts.

Winnie is survived by her sister, Patricia Klein; nephew, Jim Klein and his wife Nancy and their sons, Joshua and Zachary; niece, Linda Kratzenberg and her husband Pete Kratzenberg and Linda’s son, Kyle Eckhoff; and other family and friends

Visitation will be held immediately prior to mass at St. Philip. A mass of Christian burial for Winifred will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip the Apostle, 5201 Cross Timbers Rd, Flower Mound, Texas 75022, with Monsignor Francis officiating. Immediately following the mass will be the burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 3900 Rowlett Rd., Rowlett, Texas 75088.
