Yaroslav (Slavko) Dovzhansky fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, June 2, 2023 in Dallas, TX. Yaroslav was born in Kalush, Ukraine, on December 26, 1958. On June 20, 1987, he married Iryna, and they spent 36 beautiful years together – 3 weeks shy of their 37th anniversary. Yaroslav graduated from Lviv Polytechnical University with a Master’s in Electrical Engineering and worked as an electrical engineer for 14 years in Ukraine.
In August 1999, Yaroslav and his family moved from Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine to Dallas, TX to pursue better opportunities. In 2004, he and his family achieved “The American Dream,” a beautiful house into which Yaroslav poured his soul and applied a myriad of skills to make it special: architecture, art, creativity, and engineering. He truly enjoyed working with his hands, which was evident by his seemingly endless collection of tools and equipment. Yaroslav was humble with a subtle sense of humor. He had so many talents but never bragged about them.
Yaroslav enjoyed nature and the sea. He loved his family, biking, building, gardening, traveling, and so much more. He was a loving father and husband. He was so proud of his children, Ivanna and Yuriy. Yaroslav also loved his Ukrainian church, St. Sophia, where he was a member for 23 years.
Yaroslav is survived by his loving wife Iryna, his daughter Ivanna, his son Yuriy, as well as his brother Zinoviy Dovzhansky and sister Ruslana Sribnyak. He is preceded in death by his brother Ihor Dovzhansky, who passed suddenly in 2021.
Ukraine was always dear to Yaroslav’s heart.
