He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. He entered active service on November 28, 1942, and received his Honorable Discharge on November 2, 1945. Ynes was a part of Company A of the 324th Infantry Division, whose battles and campaigns included those in the Rhineland of Germany, Northern France, and Central Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart, EAME Service Ribbon, three Bronze Service Stars, the American Service Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.
On August 12, 1945 Ynes married the love of his life, Lupe Fraga, and together they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Upon his discharge from the Army, he and his bride resided in Gossett, TX for five years before moving to Dallas, TX in 1950, where they raised their three children. He retired from the City of Dallas as a truck driver in 1980, and then was able to spend his time on his hobbies of repairing lawnmowers and vacuum cleaners, until venturing into the world of Flea Markets, where he loved buying and selling. Ynes continued his hobbies until the late 1990’s, when health problems prevented him from doing the things he loved. He always remained, however, an avid fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed taking trips to the casinos to try his luck on the slot machines.
Ynes was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Raquel Flores; sisters, Guadalupe Rodriguez and Amelia Torres; and great-grandson, Allan Jabez Mora.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lupe Flores; daughter, Christine Kenngott and husband Jon of Dallas, TX; son, Frank Flores and wife Carolyn of Celeste, TX; son, Ynes F. Flores of Dallas, TX; five grandsons, Ruben Trevino, Carlos Trevino, Michael Mora and wife Margaret, Allan Mora, and Christopher Flores; ten great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
