Tony was born on St. Anthony’s Day in 1937, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Vincenzo and Rose Terrasi. In his youth, Tony was a talented accordion player and attended the prominent High School for Performing Arts in Manhattan. He later graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn, New York.
Tony served in the United States Army at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. After an Honorable Discharge, he achieved his Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College.
Tony became an accountant in New York City until the family moved to New Fairfield in 1980. While working for various companies in Danbury and Hamden, Connecticut, Tony maintained a private tax preparation business, A.C. Terrasi Tax Service. He enjoyed sit downs with old and new clients and dedicated his efforts to advising those clients over the years.
He is survived by his children: Rosemarie (Christopher) Mahon of New Fairfield, CT; and Vincent (Beata) Terrasi of New York, NY. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren: Erin and Caitlin Mahon and Enzo and Lola Terrasi; and his nephew, Ralph (Pamela) Antonella and family. He was an endless fountain of love for his children and grandchildren, whom he cherished.
A proud Italian American, Tony became a dedicated member of the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge in Danbury, where he made new friends and shared great meals. His home away from home, Tony volunteered in the office and for the scholarship program, the toy drives and at the annual Italian Festival, an event he looked forward to every year.
A selfless father, grandfather, and friend, he fostered deep and long-lasting connections in New York and Connecticut. He dedicated his life to his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing “Mr. T.” His kindness and understanding were effortless. Please feel free to express your condolences, relay a story or otherwise remind us of his love and legacy.
