Catherine M. Ghee

Catherine Marie Ghee of Ridgefield, CT, passed quietly on Sunday, January 24, 2016. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Ghee, and survived by her 5 children, Christine, Thomas, Alex, Cathy Anne, Erin and 7 grandchildren; Christian, Sam, Olivia, Grace, Connor, Alexandra and Galina.

The daughter of Captain John Lynch and Mary O’Connor, formerly of Cork County, Ireland, she leaves behind a legacy of good deeds, kind thoughts and a generous nature. For someone born during the great depression she learned the lessons of living frugally but also learned when to enjoy life and how to maximum joy from small pleasures. As such she travelled whenever possible to places as close as Long Beach Island, NJ to the cold of Alaska and the tropics of the Panama Canal. She satisfied her wanderlust by traveling extensively with her dearest friend, Carol, and spending the inheritance she could have left her children.

Catherine never appreciated or understood her great appeal to others but it was reflected in the many people who gravitated toward her. She was incredibly humble and truly one of a kind. Her tremendous beauty and gorgeous soul is sorely missed already and can never be replaced.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Ridgefield, on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
