Christopher (Chris) Simoes Andrade, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Danbury Hospital following a brief, but courageous, battle with cancer. He had celebrated his 50th birthday this past August.
Chris was born to Joaquim and Mary Anne Andrade, on August 11, 1965, in Danbury. He graduated from Immaculate High School in 1984 and then earned his Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Western Connecticut State University. He went on to become a corporate accountant and worked for Océ as an Accounting Manager before becoming Chief Financial Officer at Pinnacle Polymers.
A lifelong resident of Danbury, he met his loving and devoted wife, Maria Filomena Heitor de Matos in 1992 and they were married a year later. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Ricardo (Ricky) and Julia, who were Chris’ pride and joy right up to his last breath. Due to his love and pride of the Portuguese culture, Chris was an active member of the Portuguese community, where he recently served as president of the Sons of Portugal Folklore Dance Group, was an organizer of the annual Portuguese Day celebrations, volunteered as photographer for major events within the community, taught catechism at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and participated in Emmaus programs in Danbury, Bridgeport, Waterbury, and Hartford for several years.
Those who knew Chris knew a smart, loving, person with a tremendous sense of humor. He always had a smile and a joke (or bad pun) to share with those around him and was notorious for his Facebook posts, which were frequent. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Yankees, Giants, Sporting, and, most of all, his daughter play softball. Chris loved technology and was always first in line to buy the "next big thing." His favorite past-time, however, was cooking as a means of bringing family and friends together around his table where he created memories that his loved ones will cherish.
In addition to his beloved wife, children, and parents, Chris is survived by his sister, Jennifer Andrade, her wife, Nicole Haeseler, and their daughter, RitaMarie of Newington, CT. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law and his wife, Antonio and Carla Heitor, of Danbury, his brother-in-law, Joao de Matos of Portugal, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and godchildren who will miss him dearly.
Relatives and friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St. Danbury, on Tuesday Oct. 27th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 149 Deer Hill Avenue in Danbury, on Wednesday Oct. 28th at 10:00am. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Chris Andrade Memorial Fund through People's Bank, 72 Newtown Rd., Danbury, CT 06810, to support the educational needs of his children.
