David was born in New Milford, CT to Robert and Eleanor McQueen on December 29, 1950. He was a member of the second graduating class at Brookfield High School in 1968 and graduated from Western CT State College. He married Margaret Whidden on July 10, 1976 in South Hadley, MA. David worked as an automotive salesman at Colonial Ford for almost 40 years and was a member of Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys Roman Catholic Church where he was an usher at the 8:30 am Mass. He was a lifelong resident of Brookfield, CT and loved to spend time boating on Candlewood Lake with his family and friends, as well as following the Nascar Cup Series on television. He also treasured the time he spent supporting all of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. As a lifelong resident of Brookfield, he was a Boy Scout and rose to the rank of Eagle Scout.
David is survived by his devoted wife Margaret, lovingly known as Meg; his children, Cindy (Anthony) Capizzi, Tim (Sue) McQueen, Andrew (Kristen) McQueen; and his beloved grandchildren Emma, Ellie, Evie, and Erin Capizzi, Charlie, James, and Maggie McQueen, Olena McQueen; his siblings Gary (Diane) McQueen, Bruce (Roger Grace) McQueen, Kevin (Lisa) McQueen and Diane (Perry) Simone. He also leaves behind his aunts, Dory Lindhurst and Rita (Bob) Murzin, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10 am at Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys in Brookfield, CT. Burial will follow at New Milford Center Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Friday, March 14, 2025 between the hours of 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Smilow Cancer Center of Yale New Haven, American Heart Association, or Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys Church.
