Edna was born September 8,1946, in New York, NY, to William Kenny and Edna Rayfield. Edna grew up in Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village and loved her time living in the city. Edna worked for AMF in White Plains, NY, while enjoying a favorite pastime, bowling, where she met Jerry Shea. Their chance meeting at a bowling tournament led to years of bowling, trips between Washington, D.C., and New York City. Edna and Jerry married on October 15, 1975. Ultimately, they settled in Cheshire, CT, where they lived for 30 years and raised their daughters. Edna stayed in touch with her numerous friends, even after moving to Florida. She was a parishioner of St. Bridget’s of Sweden Church in Cheshire and volunteered at the American Cancer Society. In 2010, Edna and Jerry moved to Heritage Pines in Hudson, Florida, where she enjoyed her new friends from throughout the country. Edna loved water aerobics, line dancing, and quiet afternoons at home.
Edna’s greatest joy was her role as “Nana” to her three grandchildren - Mitchell, Shea, and Bella. Edna’s dedication to her grandchildren was unparalleled, and she was their greatest cheerleader. Edna’s delighted in spending an afternoon at the mall pushing their strollers, playing with dolls, having a tea party, attending school plays, award ceremonies, and graduations.
