Gladys Marie Jackson of Danbury, CT passed away unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, May, 4, 2011. Ms. Jackson was promoted to glory to live with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 55. Gladys, along with her identical twin sister, Gloria, was born on August 4, 1955 in Danbury, CT to the late Douglas P. Jackson and the late Lillian (Baldwin) Jackson.
Gladys was a loving and gentle woman full of faith. Her radiant smile would light up a room. Gladys enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking, drawing, bike-riding, singing and living life to its fullest! Her laughter and jovial spirit was contagious! Gladys had a wonderful sense of humor and it didn’t take much to make her laugh! To all who knew her, Gladys was known as a cheerful and generous giver. Whether she gave the gift of her friendly smile or a precious keepsake that she treasured, Gladys gave wholeheartedly with joy and gladness! Because of Gladys’ loving heart and giving character, two people will receive the precious gift of sight from Gladys’ transplanted corneas. Individuals suffering with cancerous joints enduring limb amputations and severe spinal cord injuries will receive Gladys’ bone marrow and those who have suffered from burns or mastectomies will receive restoration to their body through tissue transplants which Gladys so lovingly and generously donated.
Gladys Jackson was an amazing woman, who overcame the challenges of coping with Bipolar Disorder, yet she lived life victoriously, always “keeping her eye on the prize”, Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. One of Gladys’ proudest accomplishments was when she went back to school to earn her GED High School Diploma. Just this past month, Gladys had the distinct honor of being awarded “Resident of the Month” by the Interlude Residential Program where she resided for the past two years.
Ms. Jackson is survived by three sisters, Wendy Vereen and husband Glenn of Charlotte, NC; her identical twin sister, Gloria Peterson and husband Kevin (Sr.); Kimberly Ilogti and husband Marcelo; a brother, Wayne Jackson and wife Grayson; and a godson, Kevin Peterson, Jr.; all of whom reside in Danbury, CT; two aunts, Patricia Owens and husband Richard of Bradenton, FL; and Diane Robinson and husband Frank of Redding, CT; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends in the community who dearly love her.
