

Hubert V. Morgan (Hugh), lifelong resident of Danbury C.T, passed away April 11, 2017 after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Regina (Hayden) Morgan. Hugh was born in Danbury on October 25, 1920 to the late Alfred and Lydia Morgan. Besides his wife and parents, Hugh is predeceased by his sister, Laura (Seth) Stietzel, and brother-in-law, Martin (Phyllis) Hayden.
Hugh graduated from Danbury High School in 1938 and joined the Army Air Corps from 1942-1946. He sold real estate for ten years and worked for Sherwin-Williams for thirty-two years. He was active in city politics, serving on several boards over the years, and was a proud member of the Republican Party.
He was a Privileged Member of the Lions Club for 63 years, where he served as a former president and was recognized for his service as a Knight of the Blind, and with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award and Ambassador of Sight Award. He was a trustee and Member Emeritus of the Scott Fanton Museum, served on the board of directors and as Member Emeritus for the Salvation Army, and on the board of directors for Augustana Homes.
Hugh was a devoted member of Saint Peter’s Church, serving as a lector and a member of the Men's Club for 43 years, and was a recipient of the St. Augustine Medal from the Diocese of Bridgeport. Hugh was an active volunteer at Saint John Paul II Center for 30 years and a recipient of the Father Rufin Compassionate Care Award.
He is survived by his daughters Carol (Steve) Rosenfield, Kathy (Bill) Ehli, Pat (Jeb) Baker, and Debi Morgan and seven grandchildren Chris (Steph) Morgan, Jennifer Ehli, Becky (Greg) Hawkins, Elizabeth (Joe) Hudson, John (Coleen) Ehli, Amy Rosenfield and Jason Rosenfield. Hugh's pride and joy were his 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert (Mary Ann) Hayden and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Peter Church in Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 4pm-8pm on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. The Danbury Lion’s Club will be doing a service in the funeral home at 7:30pm.
