James "Jim" was born in 1947 in Bridgeport to the late Andrew and Mildred Lengen. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1965 where he was a member of the swim team. Jim proudly served as a medical service specialist, Ward Master, Sergeant E4, in the United States Air Force from 1966 - 1970, stationed first at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and then at Goose Bay, Labrador. Jim graduated with a B.S. Biology degree from Southern Connecticut State College in 1974, and worked as a microbiologist at Sterling Drug and then at Pfizer Central Research until his retirement.
Jim was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Erdmann) for 41 years, and brother of the late Yaroslav (Jerry) Lengen. He is also survived by his cousins Ceil Bolmer, Diane (Jerry) Settani, Virginia (Michael) Altieri, Patricia (Dennis) Levesque, and their families, and by his brothers-in-law Bernard (Edward Gaela) Erdmann and Kenneth (Veronica Cizik) Erdmann. Jim had a big personality, enjoyed cooking, golfing, classical music, and camping at Acadia National Park, and "the mayor" never passed up an opportunity to talk politics.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 19, at Saint Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road in Danbury. Interment will immediately follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury. There are no calling hours.
