
Jean M. Cerreta, 90, of New Fairfield, CT passed away on Monday morning, May 11, 2015 at Glen Hill Care Center in Danbury with her family at her side. She was the wife of Salvatore M. Cerreta formerly of New Rochelle, NY.
Born in Berwick, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry Bird and Pauline Rinker. Jean was a 1942 graduate of Berwick High School and received her RN from the New Rochelle Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. A RN at New Rochelle Hospital for over 30 years, Jean was recognized for taking care of the world’s smallest baby at that time. She later worked at the Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, retiring in 1985.
Jean had been a resident of New Fairfield for the past 26 years, coming from Mamaroneck. She was a former member of St. Vito Church in Mamaroneck and member of St. Edward Church in New Fairfield, where she served as the parish nurse. She was an avid Yankees fan.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her three daughters: Sally-Jean Cerreta of Oakland, CA; Pamela Jean McNally and her husband, Brian, of New Fairfield; and Theresa Marie Siligrini and her husband, Albert, of Lindenwold, NJ. She will be missed by her cherished grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kevin and Kerri-Ann.
A Graveside service will be conducted Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10AM at Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield with the Rev. Nick Cirillo, Pastor, officiating.
