János is survived by his wife, Maria Turcsanyi; his sister Berezvayné Éva, his children, Mary Potter (George), Andre Turan (Ramona) Eva Broberg (Christian), Joseph Turcsanyi (Nina) and János Turcsanyi Jr. (Györgyi), his 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Tibor Turcsanyi; his brother Ernő Turcsanyi Jr.; his mother Iréne Trexler and his father Ernő Turcsanyi.
János was born in Esztergom, Hungary on December 18, 1928 where he attended cadet school and later moved to the United States. He married his loving wife, Maria Turcsanyi (Csaki) on January 17, 1986.
János was a lively presence to all his friends and family. He worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for his family in the US, driving taxis in New York City.
He was passionate about the welfare of fellow Hungarians that made the journey to the US. In his younger years, he enjoyed horseback riding, going out dancing, classic movies, enjoying a coffee at the local cafe, and spending time with his family and friends. János was very proud of his three sons that served in the US Military, including János Jr. who is currently enlisted in the US Navy.
János was a beloved grandfather to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren and always enjoyed watching them be playful. His smile and laughter will be fondly remembered.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. Nagyon szeretünk férjecském, apuci, papa.
