Lorraine M. Hentschel, of Danbury, CT, was called to heaven on Sunday June 15, 2025 at Danbury Hospital. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Lorraine was born in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice “Comba” Smith.
Lorraine was the wife of the late Walter “Mike” Hentschel, married for 56 years.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her daughter, Doreen Hentschel, of Bethel, CT as well as by her siblings: Edward Lennon, Rita Lennon Sielawa and Irene Smith Lomax.
Lorraine is survived by three daughters: Kathy (Joe) Trippodo of Greensboro, NC; Debra (Tony) Hentschel-Pires of Danbury, CT; and Eileen (Howie) Packer of Newtown, CT. Lorraine is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lorraine is survived by her sister, Alice Hallinan, of Westchester, PA.
Lorraine worked for Hughes Corp. (formerly Perkin Elmer) as an administrative assistant until her retirement, where she formed long lasting friendships.
Lorraine loved life! She was always the first one on the dance floor where you’d find her dancing the lindy, Irish jig and polka! She was an avid cook, baker and calligrapher. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and especially picnics at the beach on Cape Cod. Lorraine was the perfect lady who always dressed to the nines, including shoes and purses.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, June 23, 2025 at St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Sunday June 22, 2025 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
