Born in Queens, NY, in 1938, Lynne was the beloved daughter of John and Doris Ekstrom, and sister to Philip, all of whom preceded her in death. She married George in 1960, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and family until his passing in 1981.
A devoted mother, Lynne is survived by her children: Carl (Lydia), Erik (Amy), and Karin (Frank). She was a proud grandmother to Julia (Justin), Anders (Fer), Megan, Nicky, Christian, Lucia, Conner, and Kierstin, and a loving great-grandmother to Bailey. All of them brought her endless joy.
Lynne will be remembered for her resilience and unwavering spirit. She never gave up, even when faced with significant health challenges in recent years. She found joy in cooking for her family and hosting gatherings that brought everyone together.
Lynne had a lifelong love of Swedish and Scandinavian dancing and was always active in Scandinavian clubs—from Freja to the Vasa Folk Dancers. It was on the dance floor that she met her beloved George, beginning a beautiful chapter of her life. She went on to become the Chairman of the Freja Lodge, cherishing the camaraderie and traditions of her heritage.
Lynne earned an Associate Degree at Upsala College in East Orange, NJ. She retired from Kaiser Permanente after 10 years as a receptionist and in customer relations. Never one to stay idle for long, she joined Westchester Medical Group, where she worked in the Oncology Department and other areas for another 15 years.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Her family will receive guests on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 8:30 - 10 AM at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. A prayer service will begin at 9:30.
