Born August 31, 1936, in Cambridge, MA, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Albert and Veronica Travers. She attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School and later began her career as a switchboard operator with AT&T, where she skillfully connected calls by hand. Her time there brought unforgettable moments, including a lighthearted friendship with Red Sox legend Ted Williams, who once joked that she was the only one who didn’t eavesdrop on his calls.
Nancy met her future husband, Ernest F. Therio, at AT&T. The two married in 1958 and had four children: Mark, Theresa, Michael, and Debra. Though they divorced in 1971, Nancy’s love for her children and family remained central to her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Michael Therio (Susan), and daughter, Debra Mitchell (Steve); grandchildren Chelsey (Paul), Chris (Amber), David (Baylee), Ken (Katie), Gail (Sean), Paul (Melissa), Brendan, Connor, Kate, and numerous great-grandchildren. Her chosen family included Touria Meehan, whose incredible friendship and unwavering support were a treasured gift during Nancy’s later years.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Veronica, her son Mark Therio, and daughter Theresa Guiod.
Nancy's life was filled with passions that brought her joy—especially her grandchildren, her cherished cats, and games like Bingo and 500 Rummy. In her later years, she welcomed the challenge of game shows as a way to keep her sharp wit alive. She will be remembered for her genuine kindness, warm humor, and her unwavering faith. Many were touched by Nancy’s infectious smile and compassionate spirit.
