

Olinda was born on Sept 21, 1925, in Fall River, MA. The daughter of Abilio and Germana (Moura) Hilario. A resident of Danbury since 1958, Olinda spent many years employed at Heli Coil, and Amphenol until her retirement.
Olinda’s two biggest enjoyments in life were her family and her church. As a devoted parishioner, she helped organize, and fund the now-established, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Deer Hill Ave. In 2009, she was awarded the Saint Augustine Medal of Service from Bishop Lori, for her services, and dedication to the parish. She also served as a Lector, and Eucharist Minister, and was Vice President of the Legion of Mary.
Olinda is survived by her four sons, Lee (Chari) Pires of Ormond Beach, FL, Edward (Nancy) Pires of Danbury, Abilio (Amanda) Pires of Atherton, CA, Anthony (Debra) Pires of Danbury, and her daughter Marie Pires of Danbury, her sister Maria Gomes, and sister-in-law Maria Hilario. Five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Joao of 67 years, her brothers Arthur, and Edward Hilario, sisters Izaura Hilario, and Alice Morais.
Viewing hours will be held privately for the family on July 16, from 8:30-10 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Danbury, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
