Patty was born in Brooklyn NY, daughter of the late Doris Brush Healy and Paul Healy.
While Patty was born with Down Syndrome, she enjoyed life to the fullest. She attended NYC public schools until the age of 18 . She worked for many years as a waitress at The Greenery Café in Danbury.
She loved music, movies and family sessions playing Trivial Pursuit. Patty possessed an incredible collection of CDs and DVDs. Her DVD favorites were the Back to the Future series and she could narrate back every character’s lines perfectly. She regularly entertained those around her with witty, perceptive and humorous commentary on what she observed happening around her!
She lived happily for many years with her roommates at Sunrise Cottage in Ridgefield. There she participated in theater, music, art and sports activities. Later in life, she enjoyed living at the Ability Beyond home at Ridge Road in Newtown.
Patty loved everyone and was well loved in return. She leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Steve Knup; her brother, Paul Healy; her nieces and nephews: Emily and Dan Knup and Sarah and Joe O’Leary. Also surviving are her four grand-nieces and nephews: Luke and Ella Knup and Ryan and Violet O’Leary; and her cousins.
Patty’s family expresses its deepest gratitude to the staff of the Ability Beyond home for their compassion and loving care for Patty over her final years as well as the medical team at Danbury Hospital in her final days.
