Robert F. Martini, 83, of New Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with myelodysplastic syndrome.
Born on February 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Bobby was the son of the late Angelina and Joseph Fiorello. He graduated from Grady Technical High School and proudly served in the United States National Guard.
His professional life began and ended at NYU Medical Center, where he rose through the ranks from electrician to Associate Director of Facilities. It was there that he met the love of his life, Gerri (Gambino) Martini, with whom he shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Bobby was a man of many passions. A devoted student of World War history and a natural comedian, he also loved fishing and playing cards. In his youth, he was an avid baseball player who cherished the honor of stepping onto the diamond at Ebbets Field, home of his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. Later in life, he became an enthusiastic bocce player, winning several championships in the New Fairfield League.
An ardent debater, Bobby, could often be found at his dining room table, ready to discuss history, politics or current events. He was never one to back down from a fight, or to give up his camel non-filters.
Above all, Bobby was renowned for his gifts in the kitchen, a passion inherited from his mother, his true love language. From the children at his wife’s in-home daycare to family and friends near and far, anyone who entered his home was greeted with his signature words: “You hungry? Want something to eat?” His legendary Sunday sauce and macs, paper-thin eggplant, and perfectly whipped mashed potatoes were unmatched, each dish a reflection of the joy he found in feeding others.
Bobby is predeceased by his brothers Michael, Nino, and Norman Martini, and his sisters Marietta Brownfeld, Jeanne Martini, and Annette Fiorello.
He is survived by his devoted wife Gerri, his children: Robert (Jessica); Cara Munro (Nate); and Gemma Martini-Mahon (Shayne). His eight cherished grandchildren: Sophia, Ruby, Nicolas, Nola, Francesca, Joseph, Stella, and Evie. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Bitsue.
Bobby will be deeply missed, but the cherished memories he leaves behind will continue to warm the hearts of all who loved him for years to come.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at St. Edward Church, New Fairfield, CT. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends will be received from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
