

Sara Elizabeth Madden, age 89 of Brookfield, died on Saturday morning at her home. She was the wife of the late Ralph J. Madden. Sara was born February 5, 1922 in Norton, VA the daughter of the late Thomas and Sara (Dempsey) Brennan. She was a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing, New York, and later received her Bachelor’s Degree from St. John University, New York. A U.S. Navy veteran, Sara served as a registered nurse during WWII. She had been a resident of Brookfield since 1958, and was a parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield.
Sara is survived by her children: Kathleen M. Murphy of New Milford, Joseph P. Madden and his wife Heidi of Long Beach, CA, Anne M. Madden of Austin, TX, Dennis M. Madden of Roxbury, Brian F. Madden of Long Island, NY, David P. Madden and his wife Lisa of Washington, D.C., Michael J. Madden of Danbury, Martin E. Madden and his wife Debra of Newtown, and Nora M. Malone and her husband Andrew of New Milford, one sister: Kathryn Cox of Fort Lauderdale, FL, one brother: John Brennan of Littleton, CO, 12 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 25 at 10:30am in St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church Brookfield. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
