

Thomas J. O’Connor, age 86 of Brookfield, CT, died peacefully Tuesday July 2, 2013 at Pope John Paul II Center in Danbury, CT. He was the husband of Joan (Sweeney) O’Connor, to whom he was married for 57 years.
Born in The Bronx, NY, Mr. O’Connor lived in Brookfield, CT most of his life. He was a graduate of Iona Preparatory High School. After High School he served in the US Naval Submarine Service from 1944-1946 with a rank of Seaman 1st class aboard the USS Segundo. He received his BA degree from Manhattan College in 1952. Thomas was a Vice President of Sales in the Cement Industry for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Thomas was Chairman of the Membership Committee for Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury, CT from 1985-1990. His interests included golf, travel, American history, the NY Giants, music and gardening. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, and especially his beloved grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Cecile O’Connor, of Silver Spring, MD; daughter, Sheila, and her husband, James Kuhn, and their children, Sean, Caitlin and Conor Kuhn of New Milford, CT; daughter, Debra, and her husband, Kevin, and their children Michelle and Patrick Cully of ST. Louis, MO; daughter, Denise of Brookfield, CT; daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Glenn Berger, and their children, Maya and Ethan Berger of Ossining, NY. He is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Archibald and family of Hyannis, MA; and Irene Howard and family of Bremerton, WA.
