

Winifred Linnane Hunt, 75, of Danbury, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Danbury Hospital. Winnie, the daughter of Michael F. and Margaret A. (Herlihy) Linnane, was born April 9, 1936 in Clarecastle, Co. Clare, Ireland. She grew up in Elmsford, N.Y., and graduated from St. John’s High School in White Plains, N.Y. After receiving a B.A. from Mount St. Vincent College in Riverdale, N.Y., she was employed by General Foods in White Plains and Tarrytown.
She is survived by her loving husband, John F. Hunt of Danbury, and three daughters, Carolyn and her husband, Peter Mueller, of Danbury; Eileen Hunt DuBois of Fairfield; and Jeannine and her husband, Andrew Dickholtz, of Cambridge, Mass. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughter, Fiona Leigh Dickholtz. Predeceased by her parents and one brother, John Linnane, she is also survived by her sister, Maureen Bujdud of Stamford, brother, Michael Linnane of Fairfield, and many nieces and nephews.
Winnie was an avid reader and a lover of the arts. She resided in Danbury for 43 years and was a member of St. Peter Church. She was involved in various community organizations. She enjoyed travel and had a special fondness for the seashore, and visiting her relatives in Ireland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30am at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
