Anabela “Anne” Pereira-Nelson, age 58, of Dartmouth, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a short but courageous battle with gastric cancer. She was the wife of Richard Nelson, to whom she shared 41 years together, 30 of which were as a married couple. In addition to her soulmate Richard, she is survived by her best friend and daughter, Nicole Anne Nelson of Dartmouth.
Born in Vale Francas, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Aurora (Rosa) Pereira and sister of the late Antonio J. Pereira. Anne was a Dartmouth High graduate and pursued further education in the fields of Fashion Merchandizing and Accounting. She took up various careers to explore her interests in fashion, interior design, real estate, physical wellbeing, and her passion for helping others which included working by her husband’s side. Her greatest occupation of all was being a loving mother to her daughter.
Anne was cherished for her compassion, nurturing nature, unwavering support, and endless patience. Anne’s creativity in all mediums improved everything she touched. A masterful cook, she was always looking for a mouth to feed. No one left her home without a full heart and a full stomach. Anne was a dedicated wife and mother. Although she only had one birth child, she raised and cared for many.
In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her mother in-law, Lillian M Nelson Pimental of Dartmouth; sister in-laws, Bella Pereira of Dartmouth and Janet Nelson of Lanesborough, MA; nieces and nephews, Diana Rodriguez and husband Jose of Dartmouth, Jessica Costa of Auckland, NZ, Jason Costa of Lanesborough, MA; additional nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. Other loved ones include Kelsey Rosa of Dartmouth and Robert Costa of New Bedford.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 11:00AM in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Road, Dartmouth, MA 02747. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be Monday, February 15, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute, 230 Russells Mills Rd, Dartmouth, MA 02747. Private burial in Rural Cemetery.
