

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Bernard and Hilda (Reis) Konowski, she was raised in Dartmouth and lived in New Bedford for several years before moving back to Dartmouth over 20 years ago.
She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Southeastern Massachusetts University, now U-Mass Dartmouth.
Mrs. Silva was a teacher at New Bedford High School for 16 years.
She loved shopping and spent much of her time counseling and comforting those in need. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Bedford.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Benjamin Silva of Boston; a daughter, Katrina Maitoza and her husband Michael of Dartmouth; two grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Maitoza; three brothers, Bernard Konowski and his wife Joan, David Konowski and his wife Rose Marie and James Konowski and his wife Lori; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Matthew Silva who passed away in 2002.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 9am at the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd. in New Bedford. Visiting hours on Friday 4-8pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
