Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, a daughter of the late Francisco and Mariana (Rapozo) Arruda, she was a long-time resident of Dartmouth.
Mrs. Benjamin worked as a Stitcher for the Cliftex Corporation for many years before her retirement in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Mrs. Benjamin enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Her family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff on Unit 3 at Hathaway Manor for their excellent care and compassion.
She is survived by two sons, Mario A. Benjamin and his wife Maria of Dartmouth, Americo F. Benjamin and his wife Diane of New Bedford; two brothers, George Arruda of Dartmouth, Humberto Arruda of Toronto, Canada; one sister, Helena Corey of Dartmouth, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Maria C. “Connie” Botelho, she was sister of the late David Arruda and Mary P. Sousa.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd. Dartmouth, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Relatives and friends invited.
