Born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Nestor Toro Cruz and Diomedes Alvarado.
He came to the United States at the age of 16, returned to Puerto Rico where he met his wife, and then they both traveled to the United States and settled in New Bedford.
He worked in local manufacturing mills including Mickey Madam Pocketbook Factory, Continental Screw, Goodyear Tire and retired from the Michael Bianco factory.
Mr. Toro was a member of the Moose Club and loved to fish.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Ana M. Morales and her husband Ricardo Morales, Noelia Velez and her husband Rafael Velez, Jr. and Exsilda Gonzalez and her husband Rene Gonzalez all of New Bedford; a sister, Lucy Lugo of Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 10am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Visitation will be held prior from 9-10am. Burial in the South Dartmouth Cemetery, 507 Elm St., Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
