Carol Conrad

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carol Anne Conrad announce her passing after a battle with several medical issues at the age of 86. Born in Lockeport, NS she was the daughter of the late Charley and Eva (Nickerson) Balish.

Carol is survived by her husband, David L. Conrad; son, Paul Conrad; daughter, Treena McMahan; grandsons, Oliver and Christian McMahan; granddaughter, Shayla Calow; great-granddaughter, Lyla Calow as well as many nieces and nephews.

Carol was always up for a joke and a good laugh. She enjoyed all her many trips to Florida, Texas and several cruises, and let’s not forget the shopping in Florida. She always had to make sure there was room in the suitcases for all the clothes she was going to purchase in Florida at the outlet malls.

After working outside the home both in office and retail, Carol got involved in various crafts as a hobby which turned into a small business known as Carols Crafty Crafts.

Christmas season was her favourite time of the year. She would bake up a storm, decorate the apartment and entertain as many people as she could. She always said moving to Baker Arms in Dartmouth was the best move she ever made and she missed all her friends and the social activities.

A special thank you is extended to all the employees at the Northwood Halifax Campus who looked after Carol with compassionate care, both in the home and at Northwood.

A memorial reception will be held for Carol on Tuesday, August 25 from 2-4 pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
