Carolyn Emily Cunningham

CUNNINGHAM (Dunbar), Carolyn Emily R.N. - of Dartmouth, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017. Born March 24, 1940 in Truro and raised in Lorne, Pictou County, she was the daughter of the late William McRae and Eva Esther (McNutt) Dunbar. She is survived by husband of 55 years, Fred Cunningham; children, Jane (George Stephenson), Rob (Barb), Mike (Lori Harris), and Mary (Andrew Hartlen); grandchildren, Emma and Will Stephenson, Sam and Rachel Cunningham, Jack and Adam Cunningham, and Kismet Hartlen; siblings, Andrea Robertson, Alex (Joan), Alan (Annette), and Donald. She was predeceased by grandson Jacob Hartlen. Carolyn was a graduate of New Glasgow High School (1957) and of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing (1960). She retired from the Grace Maternity Hospital in 1994. Carolyn was a member of Iona Presbyterian Church, a member and past president of the Atlantic Mission Society, member of the Iona Guild, and she served on the board of F.O.O.D. (Margaret’s House) in a number of positions, including chair. Donations to F.O.O.D., IWK or charity of your choice. Visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Monday, September 25 in Iona Presbyterian Church. Memorial service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday in Iona Presbyterian Church, 90 Lucien Drive, Dartmouth.
