

Chester D’Arcy Nieforth, 91, a longtime resident of Fall River before moving to Parkland, Dartmouth 2 years ago. He was born in Carrolls Corner and spent his childhood there. Chester died on March 9, 2025 in Dartmouth General Palliative Care after a very short illness. He was the son of the late Reginald and Annie (Isenor) Nieforth.
Chester belonged to the Fall River Friendly Senior Citizens Group, he was a member of St. Thomas Anglican Church in Fall River, the Parkland Current Affairs Group and Friday Morning Men’s Coffee Group. He was a partner years ago in Nieforth Brothers and then worked for CN Rail for 37 years as a locomotive operator.
In his younger years Chester was a passionate Gardner. All his life he was an avid reader and an unequalled history and Jeopardy buff. His enjoyment of Jeopardy was well known. We all knew not to call him between 8:30-9 pm. Jeff and Lora gave Chester one of his prize possessions, a Jeopardy ball cap which says “Final Jeopardy” for his 90th Birthday. Chester was a true gentleman, friend, father and grandfather. He was a devoted husband to Jeanne and Shirley both.
He is survived by his son Joseph (Annemarie) Nieforth, Perth, ON and a daughter Kelseigh Nieforth, Orleans, ON. Stepsons Jeff (Lora ) Davies, Canaan, NS and James (Brenda) Davies, Carrolls Corner, NS. Stepdaughters Janice (Brian) Rowlings, Porters Lake, NS, Debby (Wayne) Mossman, Arnprior, ON, Terry (Bruce) Caldwell, Fall River, NS. Grandchildren, Chris Nieforth, John and Justin Davies, Kassandra, Kimberley, Kristina, and Kandace Davies, Jesse and Janine Rowlings, Jacqueline Roberts (Amanda), and Stephen Roberts.
Chester was predeceased by his wife Jeanne Nieforth, partner Shirley Cuvelier, brothers Alfred and Ronald Nieforth, stepson John Davies and grandson Wyatt Davies.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19 from 6-8 pm in St. Thomas Anglican Church, Fall River (3534 Hwy 2) and funeral Thursday at 11am at St. Thomas, with reception to follow. Reverend David Chapman will be officiating. A private family interment will take place later in the Spring.
