Her light here on earth has dimmed and now shines brightly in the skies above to guide us all through our own journeys in life. Our beloved Dale will be forever missed after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.
Missing her every second of every minute of everyday is her loving and devoted husband Frank, her beautiful daughter Karina, son in law Mark Wornell, and her precious treasures, her grandchildren Payton and Blake.
As mother and daughter, Dale and Karina their hearts as one shared a love and bond like no other. The best of friends, through laughter and tears they were each others source of strength, courage and love. They meant the world to each other and their connection will be forever engraved in both their hearts.
Loving daughter of Jack and Pat Merritt and the late Brenda Wayne.
Always remembered by her siblings, Deanna McLean (Larry), Debbie “Debs” Gillis (Alex), Jack Merritt (Maria) and Karen Revel (Larry). Also remembered by her sister in law Cathy and the late Ken Shepherd. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Dale proudly served her country for 33 years, retiring as one of the few female Chief Warrant Officer’s in the military. She returned to Nova Scotia to be closer to her beloved daughter and grandchildren and was fiercely proud of their accomplishments. She adored her whole family and was deeply loyal, generous, wise and often called upon to offer guidance to everyone. Her passions were many, with a deep love for books, crafting, gardening and travelling the world. Dale cherished spending time with her Dad, whether it be playing “Pepper”, sailing, or meeting for their Saturday morning breakfasts.
A special thank you to all staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital, the Halifax Infirmary, and the ICU3A at QEII Victoria General.
We, as a family will never be the same, but we will look to the skies for her guiding light, our Dale. Dance among the stars, we miss you already. Love you.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
