David Colter was a remarkable person who was always smiling brightly I am devastated to learn that cancer had taken his life when he still had much more time to live. I will always remember the song I sang for him with my guitar. He was the smartest person I have ever met. god bless you all.

Annette and I were deeply saddened to hear the terrible news about David.  My earliest memories reach all the way back to first days at North Brook Elementary.  He was more than Gary's big brother: David was  one of the "big kids" we all looked up to.  

We had so many good times and lots of full-bellied laughs over the years.  David was always a source of sage advice and catchy guitar riffs, not to mention a healthy does of good-spirited mischief on occasion.

We will miss his friendship.  It must be a very difficult time for all of you.

Although I have never had the pleasure of knowing David, I know most of the Colter family going back as far as Connie and Maurice, his grandparents. To his Mother Pat, Aunt Judy, and brother Gary, and all families, my deepest condolences on your loss of such a special man, as described in the obituary, and from the many friends that left their memories with you. So sorry to hear of David’s passing, I moved from Pinehill rd when I was 14. Like Bruce Amero wrote, we grew up in the best neighborhood.  David was part of the group of kids that I grew up with. The Keatings and Coulters backyards were connected and was the playground for us. Many great childhood memories of all of us. Deepest sympathy to David’s family.

What sad news! I grew up with David's son Ryan and their family in Issaquah, Washington. I loved going to their house. It was just manic energy with boys everywhere.

I have so many fond memories of that place. David had the coolest music setup and a top notch home entertainment system. He was so excited to share it with us so we could enjoy it too!

David, Paula and the whole Colter family were so gracious and inviting to so many kids and families in the area.

They left an awesome legacy here and David will be truly missed! He was one of a kind.

Don’t really know what to say under such terrible circumstances but will say I wish I had connected more with David once he moved back to Halifax.  Denise and I enjoyed the time we spent with David and Daniela on our weekend excursions to Toronto. 
David was such a glass half full guy, being around him was a rush of positive energy.  He lived life to the fullest,  didn’t leave anything on the table, what all of us strive to do. I’m sure heaven will be hosting the best party ever with him there, we’ll see you there one day my friend.

Lesley and I are so very sorry for David and the Colter Family! My memories of David go back to the Owl's Club, then onto Dartmouth High and more recently attending many comedy nights (not to mention being schooled on smoke-cooking). I have shared many of Mom's memories in recent years with David as they relate to relatives and Cow Bay, and learned we have many close relatives in common... We will miss you David!
