LOWE (MacMillan), Dorothy Marie "Dot"— of Dartmouth, passed away at the age of 89 years. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., on January 19, 1920, daughter of Patrick "Pop" H. MacMillan and Angelina "Lena" (Callaghan). Dorothy was the youngest of 13 children and the last surviving member of her family. Dot was a long-time resident of Dartmouth. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Harold Robert "Lofty" Lowe and settled in Port Wallace. She is survived by her daughters, Dorilda (Craig) Blanche, Tignish, P.E.I; Rhodell McKinnon, Dartmouth; sons, Delbert (Marilyn), Truro; Dameon (Linda), Beaver Bank; nine grandchildren who loved her as Nanny, Melanie, Shaun, Sarah, Lori, Tim, Dave, Derrick, Meridith, Gillian; great-grandchildren, Breigha and Morgan; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold "Lofty". Dot lived a vivid and full life, enjoying many simple pleasures and loving her children and grandchildren, nurturing them as they grew. She was especially close to her youngest daughter, Rhodell. She kept a strong Catholic faith close to her heart. She enjoyed her family and vacation time at the cottage in Prince Edward Island and Old Home Week in Charlottetown. She worked at Wood Brothers clothing store in Halifax for many years and spent numerous hours working on the Liberal Party campaign trail. Dot tried her hand at fishing and was proud to catch the biggest trout on one of her fishing trips with Lofty. Her culinary skills were second to none and she enjoyed cooking dinners for her family. Dot made many friends over the years. The family would like to thank all those who conveyed their concerns through phone calls, letters and stopping by to say hello. We also wish to thank the doctors and nurses, especially Mary, of four West and Dartmouth General Emergency Department and the EHS Paramedics. In memory of Dot, the family would like you to give your loved ones a hug and consider making a donation to your local food bank or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place.
