

Age 94, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2017, at Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home, in Dartmouth. Dorothy was born in East Dalhousie, Nova Scotia, but grew up in Bridgetown. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Laura Smith. She was a member of Grace United Church, a life member of the Dartmouth Curling Club, a former member of Brightwood Golf & Country Club, St. George’s Tennis Club, and Dartmouth Lawn Bowling Club. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends and also the Christmas Club of which she was a member for many years. She was employed by the Royal Bank of Canada for several years at Branches in Bridgetown, Halifax, and Montreal. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Jennifer) and Jeffrey, both of Dartmouth, and also cherished grandchildren, Emily and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Carmen Piggott, brothers, Emerson, Gordon, Alvin, and sisters, Minerva Kaulbach, Viola Quick, and Frances Foster. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Grace United Church on Saturday, July 29th at 2pm. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, in Bridgetown.
