Dorothy Patricia Quinn

QUINN, Dorothy Patricia (Deans), 82, died peacefully on April 24, 2023. She is preceded by parents Violet and Robert (Deans) and husband of 55 years Warren. She is survived by children Julie (Carolyn) and Steven (Cathy) and sibling (and best friend) Lynne. Dorothy was an amazing person and devoted wife and mother.

Dorothy was always a people person who, by her own admission, could talk the hind legs off a donkey. At 82, she was still an unabashed flirt who flirted with the ambulance attendants that came to take her to the hospital. Dorothy could command a room with her stories, her charm and her wit. She described her life as full and satisfying. Born in England, Newcastle-upon-Tyne she came to Canada in 1967 to marry Warren and start a family. She was proud of her children and called Warren the love of her life. Over the years she loved her work as a switchboard operator and receptionist, her many volunteer efforts and the children she sponsored overseas. Her favourite things included shopping (she loved spending money), good-looking men and cheering on (or complaining bitterly about) her Montreal Canadiens. If you knew Dorothy, you loved Dorothy. She was, and remains, bigger than life.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 6 at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home at 217 Portland Street, in Dartmouth, N.S. This service will be live-streamed online for those who cannot attend in person.
