Douglas Stewart Sawlor

27 December , 19364 March , 2019

SAWLOR, Douglas Stewart - Age 82 of Eastern Passage, passed away March 4, 2019. Born on December 27th, 1936, son of late Charles and Alfreda (Glazebrook) Sawlor. He is survived by his wife, Melva (Powell), son Keith (Debbie) Sawlor, daughter Wendy (Michael) Sheppard, brother Winston (Gloria) Sawlor, and his three grandchildren, who he was most proud of, Kaila (Keigan) Sawlor-Dion, Brett Sawlor and Trevor Sheppard. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Barbara, and brothers Raymond and Victor. Doug took an interest in carpentry from an early age, and achieved his Red Seal at the age of 21. He went on to create Sawlor Built Homes, who are proudly celebrating their 50th year in 2019. Doug was an avid competitive softball player who had a natural ability for the game. His exploits on the field were followed by many, and were often published in local newspapers. His love of the game kept him playing recreationally until the age of 60. Cremation has taken place and there will be a visitation on Saturday, March 9th from 1:00-4:00 pm at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastern Passage-Cow Bay Community Food Bank. Online condolences to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
