

Mackenzie, Ethel Marie , 101 years young, of Eastern Passage passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, January 19, 2013 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Cow Bay, Ethel was the daughter of the late James and Annie (Linaman) Ritcey. Spending her first eight years on Sable Island, she then lived 92 years in Eastern Passage. At the age of 17 she became a mother to her siblings: Clyde, James and Vera. Ethel was a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church and played the organ for over 25 years. She worked tirelessly for the A.W.C. since its founding. Ethel loved playing bridge and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Ethel is survived by her daughter Lois (Roy) Bonin, grand-daughters Heather Lynn Vidito, Donna Bonin ,grandson Roy Christopher “RJ” Bonin; great grandsons James and Ross Miller, Charles “CJ” and Dylan Vidito; great great grand-daughter Kylie Vidito. She is predeceased by husband John, sister Mae and brothers James, Clyde and Roy. Visitation will be 2-4 pm, 7-9pm on Tuesday, January 22 in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth 461-0700. Funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday January 23 in St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Eastern Passage. Rev. John Ferguson officiating.
