October 22,1947 - March 8, 2024.
Felix passed away Friday morning after a short battle with cancer. He was 76. Felix was born in Matanzas, Cuba.
He was educated as a mechanical engineer and worked many years on the container ships. At some point the ship he was on came to Shelburne Nova Scotia and Felix had a plan in place. He left the ship, made his way to Halifax, found Immigration services and started the process to become a Canadian citizen. He received citizenship in 1996.
Felix was a hard worker, sometimes two and three jobs at a time. Rarely did he miss a shift. The English he learned was self-taught, difficult to understand at times but he would persist until understanding was reached.
Canada became his home, however Cuba was always in the front of his mind and heart. I was lucky enough to experience Cuba through Felix's eyes. The fun we had planning our trips, getting passports and shopping for special treasures for the family took up months in advance. Felix was a grand shopper!!
It's hard to condense our life together in a few short paragraphs. We lived, laughed and loved wholeheartedly. I will miss him terribly.
Felix is survived by his daughters Miladys, Tampa Bay, Florida, and Maribel, Havana, grandsons Andy and Carlito. Mabel and Madeline Solomon and many nieces and nephews. I am sorry if I didn't mention every one. He loved you all and we spoke of you often.
