

OLDREIVE, Florence Elizabeth, 88, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on April1, 2011 at Glasgow Hall, Parkland on the Lakes. Born in Sandgate, England, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Cockburn. Florence immigrated to Canada in 1954 with her husband, Peter and young family. After a few years at CFB Cornwallis, they finally settled in Dartmouth. It was here Peter built several homes for their growing family. Florence was always a stay at home mother, busy raising three boys and one girl. In 1978 Florence assumed both parenting roles, as she became a widow at age 55. “Nan” as we all called her, loved her “Soaps” or “Stories” as she called them and was a gifted knitter. Florence was predeceased by her husband Peter George and her brother Charles Edward. She is survived by her sons Clive (Linda) of Dartmouth; Neil (Cindy)of Timberlea; Graham (Brenda) of Dartmouth; and daughter Jennifer (Bradley Whare) of Dartmouth; Grandchildren David, Devon, Colin, Scott, Melissa, Nicole, Jeffrey, Justin and several great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home in Dartmouth on Tuesday April 12, 2011 from 6pm to 8pm with Memorial Service and reception to follow at 11am on Wednesday April 13.
