

Stewart, H. Douglas – 82, of Dartmouth passed away January 1, 2015 at the Q E II Infirmary Site. Born in Yarmouth, he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Roy) Stewart. Douglas was in the Royal Canadian Navy for 38 years as an Electronic warfare officer. He travelled all over the world during his work career. He led a very active life even after his retirement, enjoying badminton and socializing at the YMCA up until two years ago. He and Joyce enjoyed travelling in the retirement years. Douglas enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed being a handyman at his cottage. To all who knew Douglas he was a kind, patient and a genuine person. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Joyce; sons Michael (Nancy) of Bridgewater, Barry (Paulette) of Dartmouth; brothers Rev. Robert (Jackie) of Yarmouth; Alan (Michael Sangster) of Dartmouth; Grandchildren; Andrew, Timothy, Brittany, Patrick, and Ariel; Great Grandchildren Iziah and Maggie Blake. He was predeceased by his daughter Cynthia. A memorial service will be held 2pm Tuesday, January 6, 2014 in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street Dartmouth. Rev. Stephen Fram officiating.
