Born in Winnipeg, into a military family, he gave 36+ years of military service with the army, the air force, and the navy. He served at Carp, Ontario (11 years), Germany (Baden and Lahr), Winnipeg, and Halifax. He was commissioned from the ranks following a tour of duty with the U.N. (Golan Heights).
After retirement, he volunteered as a Kiwanian with the Kiwanis Clubs of Woodlawn and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was particularly active with the Kiwanis Key Leader Camp program for young people. Jack loved gardening, as well as watching and feeding the birds.
He is survived by wife Cassandra, son John, daughter Rosemary (James), brother Mike (Diane), sister Colleen (Jim), grandchildren Holly (Erik), Brooke, Cooper, and great-granddaughter Parker.
According to Jack’s wishes, there will be no funeral and cremation will take place.
