Our sweet mom (aka Nanny) was a triple threat: warm, patient and kind. Simple traits that made her one-of-a-kind and a friend to many. Heaven gained a great listener. Mom was the kind of person you told your life story to without realizing it. So, let us tell you about her.
Born in 1952 to Douglas and Vera Belliveau, she was raised and went to high school in Campbellton, NB. At 18, she travelled to London, England to learn more about her family history and explore. She would eventually come back home to marry the love of life, Peter in 1974. Together, they would commit to 20+ years of military life, transferring from one Canadian base to another before retiring in Cole Harbour, NS in 1992. She loved reading Harlequin Romance books, drinking caesars, being with her children (which meant driving them wherever they wanted), and spoiling her grand “boys” Carson and Brody. She would spend months at a time in Oshawa, ON to ensure the boys always made their sports and activities.
She’ll be greatly missed by her sisters Susan Schwemler and Carol Richardson, children Christie (Jeremy Christy) and Kirk (Willem Husselman), niece Celena Richardson, nephew Douglas Richardson, and extended family and friends. She was preceded by her husband Peter McLardie (2009), brother Stephen Belliveau (1986) and brother-in-law Joe Schwemler (2011).
We’d like to thank George and Lucy Lewis for their long-standing friendship and devotion to mom, and Dr. Simon Jackson from the QEII for his unwavering care. In memory of mom, be good and do good.
