

Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Walter Coolen and Mary Johnston Dodson.
Jack retired after working for over 40 years at MT&T in various positions. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife and held executive positions with the Metro Merry Makers and the Ocean Waves square dance clubs. He was actively involved in the highland dancing and pipe band communities – especially with the Dartmouth and District Pipe Band where he acted as treasurer, quartermaster, vice-president, president and chief sandwich maker over the many years he was involved with the club.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Donna Coolen (Joudrey), his brothers Walter, Clarence, Donald and Richard and his sister Hilda (Jackson). He is survived by his son Glenn Coolen (Nicole) of Dartmouth; daughter Chantal Coolen (Jeff Harper) of Upper Tantallon; and his three grandchildren Finn, Cate and Aileigh. Cremation has already taken place.
Visitation Thursday September 19th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Private family burial to follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Huntington’s Society of Canada.
