

Whiting, John F. “Jack” – 81, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully on April 29, 2015 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in St. Croix he was the son of the late Arthur and Marie (DeMont) Whiting. Jack enjoyed playing music, bowling, washer toss and writing poetry. In his younger years he was an avid outdoors man, enjoying fishing, hunting and trapping. Jack enjoyed going to the camp, travelling and a good practical joke. Jack was the founder of City of Lakes Horseshoes, envolved with the Travelling Bowling League, founder of Jackpot Horseshoes and co-founder of the Eldertones. He is survived by daughters; Tana (Joe) Ross, Angelisa (Glen) Murphy, grandchildren; Nina (Craig) Collings, Jesse, Brooklyn, Dawson and Wyatt. Sister; Pauline (Johnnie) MacMillan, many nieces and nephews. Companion Marlene Starratt. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years Ruth (Thompson), daughter; Katrina Blackmore, son in-law; Patrick Rolfe, brothers; Robert, Stuart, sisters; Helen and Marguerite. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 3, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street. Funeral service will take place on Monday, May 4 at 11am, in Steven’s Road Baptist Church, 2 Steven’s Road. Rev. Shirley DeMerchant officiating. Burial will take place in St. Croix Cemetery.
