He was the son of David and Barbara Parker.
Kyle grew up in Port Hawkesbury, where his love of the outdoors began. He then spent most of his working years in HRM and Oromocto, NB, before finishing out his career in Sydney.
Kyle was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years. He began as a Reservist with 45th Field Engineer Squadron at Victoria Park, Sydney, and later joined the troops of the Princess Louise Fusiliers at the Halifax Armouries.
His love of the military resulted in his joining the “Reg Force” and he was so excited to begin his official career. Upon his graduation, he had received the Top Candidate Award for his leadership skills for troop motivation, positive spirit and “can do” attitude during these training exercises.
Upon graduation, he was posted to CFB Gagetown and became a proud member of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment.
He quickly became a decorated veteran completing three Tours of Duty with deployments to the Middle East between 2003-2012 due to the ongoing conflict there during those years. His final deployment to the Middle East resulted in his receiving the CDS (Chief of the Defence Staff) Commendation.
In addition to his Middle East deployments, he also completed a Tour of Duty to Haiti as part of a UN Peace Keeping Mission in 2004.
Kyle’s military contributions were not limited to Tours of Duty, as he also participated in other military missions such as the Swiss Air recovery effort.
After a lengthy career of traveling the globe with his comrades, Kyle finished off his military career back at Victoria Park with the Cape Breton Highlanders.
Upon his retirement on November 30, 2019, Kyle chose to remain in beautiful Cape Breton and planned to enjoy working on some of his new hobbies. He enjoyed family time, hiking, kayaking, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his German Shepards. He also enjoyed reminiscing with other veterans at their group painting classes.
In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by his daughters, Chelsea and Kaleigh; siblings, Cassandra, Fleur, Jonathan (Sheana), Jason (Klaudia) and Holly Gordon (Adam); his partner, Carol Mac Quarrie, and her children, Christian and Kody; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Due to the circumstances of COVID-19, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Operational Stress Injury Social Support, go to: supportourtroops.ca
